The Power of Digital Marketing in the Music Industry In the past, musicians were dependent on powerful music labels to produce, promote and distribute their music to audiences. The advent of digital music began with digital file-sharing and evolved into the fully digital ecosystem of today. Creators write songs, music, and lyrics—record them digitally—then distribute them around the world on their own terms. Depending on the savvy and marketing expertise of the creator, the impact of their music can either be minimal or become a viral success.
